Ed has over 40 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. He began at Bell Northern Research in 1982 as a software developer working on telecommunications switching gear. He took some time out in 1988 to pursue a law degree and immediately thereafter began a regulatory career at Unitel. Immediately prior to joining COMsolve, Ed was VP Regulatory and Carrier Services at Freedom Mobile. Among other responsibilities at Freedom Mobile, Ed was responsible for number resource management and carrier interconnection.
Most recently, Ed has been managing the contract with the Canadian telecom industry for Canadian number administration services on behalf of COMsolve and has been a key contributor in the development of guidelines for the Canadian implementation of Thousands-Block Pooling (TBP). Additionally, he has helped create the production test environment currently in use by Canadian carriers as they get ready for launch of TBP.
Ed was called to the Ontario bar in 1993 and holds a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Toronto (1991). He also has received the degrees of Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (1981) and Masters of Electrical/Systems Engineering (1983) from Carleton University.
