Ofir Smadja founded COMsolve in 2006 to provide professional Services to the Canadian Telecom Carriers. With over 15 years of experience in the telecom sector, Ofir has extensive knowledge in the areas of Wireless and Wireline technologies, and thorough knowledge of the Canadian Regulatory Affairs. Ofir has built an impressive team of telecom individuals that combine in-depth technical knowledge with years of business experience, which enable COMsolve to provide technical solutions based on business objectives.
Ofir started his Telecom career as an officer with the Military’s Signals Group, where he gained extensive experience with the most advanced wireless technologies. Ofir worked for General DataComm, NetTest and Redline Communications, gradually assuming more advanced management positions and leading technical teams in supporting global carriers. Ofir has worked with some of the largest and most demanding carriers in the world, providing expert solutions in the area of core and edge networks as well as wireless solutions such as CDMA, GSM, UMTS and HSPA.
Ushering a new era in the Canadian Telecom landscape, COMsolve was a key contributor to the planning, implementation and successful launch of the Wireless Number Portability (WNP), while working for the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) and Telus. Other notable contributions to the Canadian Wireless arena are the critical implementation of E911, mandated by the CRTC, where the COMsolve’s team worked with Telus and Wind Mobile to plan, implement, test across Canada and successfully launch this important enhancement.
Ofir is widely recognized for his in-depth technical knowledge and solid relationships within the wireless industry. Ofir is responsible for identifying and pursuing key partnerships with the wireless carriers.
Ron Aharoni – Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Ron Aharoni has joined COMsolve in February 2010, to assume the position of a VP, Sales & Marketing. Prior to joining COMsolve, Ron had spent 25 years in the Telecom field, covering various sales territories in the Americas, Europe and the Far East.
As a Regional Sales Manager for Dynatech Communications, Ron sold network monitoring solutions to banks and government agencies in Canada and the USA. As a Senior Product Manager for Sprint Canada, Ron developed and launched the Canadian version of the Virtual Private network, capturing 15% of the Canadian market-share within the first 6 months of the launch.
While serving as the Director of Marketing for Motorola Canada, Ron managed a large team of Product Managers and Telemarketers. In developing and implementing a Reseller Recruitment Program “Motorola in Motion”, the team added 15 new Resellers across Canada and increased revenue by 25% within the 1st year.
As the VP of Marketing for Image Processing Systems, Ron propelled IPS to “The Fastest Growing Company in Canada” (Profit Magazine – June 1998), having doubled the revenue figures in Fiscal Year 1997. The rapid growth in revenue and share evaluation, led to the eventual acquisition by the US based Photon Dynamics.
During the 5 years at NetTest, as Director of Global Marketing, Ron was responsible for defining the marketing strategy and managing 12 product managers and marketing managers to become the “Top Performing Division” in revenue, profit and expense per employee at NetTest. As the principal spokesperson for the division, Ron articulated and delivered NetTest’s vision, technology and business strategy to prospective customers, the press and technical analysts around the world. The hardware and software included Wireless and Wireline solutions such as UMTS, GPRS, 802.xx, VoIP, ATM, MPLS – testing and monitoring solutions.
Ron has extensive experience and global expertise with large Enterprises, Telecom Carriers and Equipment manufacturers in Canada, USA, S/A, Europe and Asia. In the years 1999-2001, Ron was elected by the over 600 members of the ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) Forum to serve as the “Chairman – Global Marketing Committee” with the mandate to promote the technology, and advance the cause of the ATM Forum in North America, Europe and Asia.
Ron has a B.Sc. (Engineering) degree from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and an MBA from York University in Toronto, Canada.
Eran has 20 years experience leading product development activities and managing software development groups in Israel, Japan and Canada. As a VP of Product Development for View22 Technology, he led the development of the company’s next generation software platform. Prior to that, Eran consulted startup companies helping them with strategy, product management, and business development.
As VP of Product Development in Locationet, Eran was responsible for the development and successful launch of LBS services for a European GSM Carrier. Eran was also an Investment Director at Syntek Capital where he searched for and evaluated investment opportunities in technology startups. As a co-founder and VP of Product Development of Netology Eran was responsible for the product strategy and the development of several innovative wireless messaging services. Netology’s products were sold to over 70 mobile carriers around the world and that success led to an acquisition by Comverse Technology (CMVT).
Eran holds an MBA (INSEAD at Fontainebleau France) and both MSc. and BSc. in Computer Science (Tel-Aviv University).
